Welcome!
The swim team at Clinton Hills is
a great way for kids to be active, develop skills and make friends.

All club members, ages 6 to 18 are eligible to participate. The fun of summer club swimming can lead to year-round involvement in the sport, but for most, it's just a positive, healthy way to spend the summer.

Parents are asked to fill a number of volunteer positions that are essential to running the team. It's fun for the whole family!

Regular morning practices start on June 1 with ages
11 and up in the pool from 8:00am -9:30am; ages 10 and under swim 9:30am -10:30am.
To build skill and endurance, please attend
         as many practices as possible!

Please Note: Most team communication is conducted
by email. If you would like more information or have questions, contact Peg Conway, the team coordinator,
at clintonhillsdolphins@gmail.com.

Our team is part of the Southern Ohio Swim League (SOSL). We compete in the "A" division with Milford, Mariemont, Coney, and Phillips.

Meets are held on either "at home" or "away" on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings, and they usually last about four hours.

Please Note: Parent participation is crucial         to the success of the swim team. Scroll         down to see parent responsibilities.

Home Meets!
Clinton Hills hosts several home meets each year.

Home Meet Schedule:
     4:45pm:Clinton Hills swimmers arrive.
5:00pm: Swimmer warm-ups; parents signed up      to work check-in with the volunteer coordinator.

The Meet Lineup:

available for sale.

Swim Meet Concessions:
Each family is asked to provide a baked good
or other snack
(can be store-bought) for sale at the concessions. Suggestions are cupcakes, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, or individual portions of cut fruit or pasta salad.

The "After-Party":
When the meet is over, Clinton Hills swimmers are served hot dogs and chips at the concession stand.

Away Meets!

The "After-Party":
When the meet is over, Clinton Hills swimmers are invited to gather at a restaurant like LaRosa's or Skyline. A parent volunteer calls ahead to let the restaurant know, and may collect money to place an advance order from families who choose participate.

Dates for and Location of Away Meets to Come!

For both home and away meets, team parents fill many important jobs that make the meet happen (for more details, see the link to the swim team handbook above).
—Each family is asked to work 3 shifts      during the regular season and one shift during      championships.
—Parents are expected to supervise their      children at all meets. The clerk of course      volunteers and parent helpers assist the 8 &      unders to the start for their events, but neither      they nor the coaches are babysitters.

    Clinton Hills Dolphins' Coaches

Head Coach
Matt St. Clair, head coach, wants to provide kids with the same fun and sense of achievement that he enjoyed as a swimmer. Matt began a second tour on the Clinton Hills staff in 2009, having started his coaching career here in 2002. After three years with the Dolphins, he served as head coach at Overhill Swim Club for two years. He has also worked with a year-round team in Oak Hills. Matt began at his summer club in Delhi when he was nine years old. Later, he swam for Elder High School (1998-2002) and was team captain his junior and senior years. He swam one year for Ohio Northern University then transferred to Miami University and swam three years for their club team. Starting in 2004 he served two years on the executive board of the M. U. team, serving as president his senior year.

Assistant Coach
Mara Russo is excited to be joining the Dolphins staff as an assistant coach. Summer leagues have always been her favorite part of swimming because of the fun atmosphere and team spirit. For the past two years, she has been on the staff at Mt. Lookout Swim Club, where she helped coach the 8& Unders and gave private swim lessons. She is a student in the graphic design program at UC's College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning and is a member of UC's master's swim team. A 2009 graduate of St. Ursula Academy, Mara was on the varsity swim team there during all four years. She began swimming for Mt. Lookout at age eight and swam on various club teams in Cincinnati for about eight years.

Assistant Coach
Michael Conway is a new assistant coach but a Clinton Hills veteran, having been a member of the Dolphins team since age nine. He begins his fourth year on the lifeguard staff at the club and for the past two seasons has led weekly stroke clinics for the swim team. As a coach, Michael hopes to bring as individualized an approach as possible to his role, in the belief that all swimmers have different needs and goals. Michael first swam competitively at Mercy Montessori when he was six. A 2010 graduate of St. Xavier High School, he was a four-year member of the swim team there and served as co-captain this past season. He also swam six years for various club teams.
